Yesterday, on social networking sites, Andres Iniesta officially announced his retirement. The 40-year-old former midfielder debuted for Barca’s first team in 2002. He is one of the best players in Spanish history.

During his 22-year career, Iniesta has played 674 times in all competitions for Barca, scoring 57 goals and making 135 assists, contributing greatly to helping the team win 29 titles, including 9 La Liga championships and 4 Champions League championships.

At international level, Andres Iniesta made his debut for the Spanish national team in 2006. He has played a total of 131 matches, scored 14 goals, won 2 EURO championships and 1 World Cup championship.

Notably, after Iniesta retired, Barca’s “big rival”, Real Madrid, also sent words of gratitude to the former Spanish player.
